Design
We design experiences, we design for the user,
and we design stunning web sites for you.
We create great web sites because we understand that good design isn't just about making your site look good (but you can be absolutley sure it will).
We recognize your web site as one of your most essential business tools and an important part of our tried and tested approach is to fully understand your requirements and those of your customers — only then can we provide a solution that truly meets your needs.
Our team approaches each brief with enthusiasm and we have built our reputation on being friendly and easy to work with. Each website we create is carefully planned, beautifully designed, and properly built. Before a line of code is written you will see architecture documents, wireframes, and where necessary flowcharts, along with the all important visual design mock-ups. We work closely with you in producing these documents and the visual designs, seeking your approval at each crucial step of the project.
The bottom line? Our designs are driven by ideas and backed by diligent planning, they deliver a clear, uncluttered message — and most importantly they leave a lasting impression.
Our Approach
During the Research & Planning stage we take the time to get to know you, your audience, and your competition. We then develop a project plan and archiecture for your website that will include some or all of the following:
- An architecture document that maps the pages of your website, presenting them in an easy to follow hierarchy
- A specification document detailing your website's content and functionality
- Flowcharts demonstrating a user's journey through specific functionality of the site such as a sign-up or purchasing process
- Wireframes — essentially your site's blueprints — indicating the basic layout of key pages of your site and the positioning of important elements
- Storyboards of any animated elements
We work closely with you in producing these documents and seek your approval, incorporating any of your changes, before moving forward.
This is where things start to get really exciting for you because we start bringing your site to life visually. By the end of this stage we will have turned all those plans and charts into a carefully considered and effective visual design that we are confident will not only meet your needs, but exceed your expectations.
We will provide you with complete visual mock-ups of several key pages of your site — including your new home page — and get your full approval before forging ahead with the next step.
This stage is also know as the 'front–end build' and is where we take your finalised visual design (which until now has just been graphic artwork) and along with the other plans and wireframes turn it into a functioning interactive website.
To do this each page of your site must be coded, which we do by hand in standards compliant XHTML and CSS. During this coding process we work through browser idiosyncrasies to ensure your website presents consistent look, feel and functionality across all three most widely uses browsers; Internet Explorer 6, Internet Explorer 7, and Firefox — as well as maintaining these standards in both PC & Mac versions of Safari and Opera.
This stage of the development process produces a fully functioning prototype of your site displaying the final visual design and demonstrating all static pages, with examples of the templates for any dynamically generated page — those generated based on database of products for example.
If your project has web application development requirements — such as a content management system (CMS), e–commerce system, or a custom application specific to your business model, development of this will already have been carefully planned and be well underway — likely having started at the same time as the Visual Design. This is the point in the project life–span that we begin integrating the coded page templates for the dynamic pages of your site with the web application under development.
Your site's content is just as important as it's design and functionality — it should be carefully crafted to ensure you are effectively communicating your message and accurately describing your products and services. At this stage we will supply you with a final Content Requirements document that details exactly what content is needed on each page of your site — but we will have requested that you start gathering content back around the time you received the initial site plans and charts. This step of the process closes with you having supplied all necessary content and our team inputting it into your site pages. If you have requested a Content Management System then we will input some of your content to get you started, and you will be able to complete the process via the easy to use online website editing interface we have provided.
Your project's journey is coming to an end. Your website is built, all the content gathered in Stage 5 has been input, and we are almost ready to launch it. At this point will do all our final checks — again ensuring that all of the pages of your site are behaving themselves properly across all the major browsers and doing a final validation confirmation on all code. We will ask you to run–your–eye over everything one last time, then get your final sign–off — your site is then ready to be published live on the Internet.
